When to plan forts, deserts and palace cities — month by month.
Rajasthan is at its best in the cooler, drier months from October to March. Days are bright, evenings are pleasant, and desert camps are comfortable.
April to June brings intense heat — possible if you start early and rest midday, but not ideal for first-timers. July to September is monsoon: landscapes turn green, but some desert roads and outdoor plans are less reliable.
For a classic Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur–Jaisalmer loop, aim for November to February.
